Worship, at times, seems to be a lofty idea...that we can worship the Living Almighty God. But, it is possible, and desired of us from God. In fact, it is an awesome opportunity that we have to do it. However, I wonder if we ever do miss it in church. I know that we all "worship" at our churches - it is a good thing. But, I have to ask myself sometimes, are we really worshipping?
I woke up Monday morning with this Psalm on my mind, 100 - "Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing." It goes on, but I will reserve the space for this page - look it up and read it.
I think it was A. W. Tozer who said of worship that it is "the missing jewel in the Church." I think that this is sometimes true. I know for me, that I feel that there can be so much more to worship than what we really experience on a given Sunday morning. We are good at singing the fast songs, and praising, but when it somes to the slow ones, and worship is given a chance - we seldom take advantage of it. Not that our leaders or musicians are doing a poor job, but we worshippers are failing to see it for what it really is.
It saddens me when I see people enduring worship, and not entering into it. We tend to see it as a means to an end (ie, the preaching - and eventual dismissal from service so we can get on with our lives) rather than a God-moment to worship the Lord who IS WORTHY! And, He is.
I don't know...I just know that there is something more to it than singing a song. It is about giving to the Lord the glory that is due His name because He is good, because His mercy endures forever, and because it extends to every generation - even our kids, and grand-kids will know of the awesomeness of God!
So, when you go to Church this Sunday, don't just endure; instead, enter in and enjoy the opportunity you have to worship God! Lift you hands, and your voices, and priase the Lord!
Hey, enjoy the clip above. I love this song, and this song says it well for me and helps me to enter into worshipping Him because He is truly great!
